Texas Stockyards overnight

4/23/14 Fort Worth Stockyards, Texas overnight
The haul here was a breeze till I got to Fort Worth and the exit highway I was supposed to take was closed. Slam on the brakes and then winding thru downtown with a 28’ trailer on narrow cobblestone streets. It didn’t help that my gps was being stupid and changing its mind constantly. I pulled into the stockyards and while looking for someone to tell me where to put my horses, I saw bulls and a camel in the outdoor pens. Inside I saw a baby camel and more bulls. The stalls are indoors in an old brick barn and huge. As I tried to get Dreamy in the first one a girl came over and said, by the way there is a reindeer in that next stall, maybe that’s why she won’t go in. Well a carrot got her over that. Wildflower was pretty freaked out by it all but ok. She was resting that hind foot again so I gave her some bute. I then went to TCU to see Rachel! It was so lovely, she gave me a full tour of the campus including the arts building which is awesome compared to the school I went to in Philadelphia. It warmed my heart to think of her spending time in those studios, doing art, doing what I have always loved…

We went back to the stockyards and had a nice dinner. Everything was leather, there were 3 buffalo heads on the wall which was creepy and the barstools were saddles, but Rachel is 18 so we didn’t try them out. I showed her the trailer which she had never seen, and she met Tommy who acted like he wanted to chew her to pieces, ugh…

There is a dead chicken by my trailer door, its kind of creepy, like it just dropped dead there or someone put it there. I don’t want to touch it, but trying to keep Tommy away from it is difficult so I might have to if its still there in the morning. Oklahoma in the morning…
